5th Annual SURVIVOR Sisters Breakfast

Join our very own Exchange Club of Las Vegas Member Dr. Brenda Braam for her 5th Annual Survivor Sisters Breakfast by Domestic Violence Resources of Nevada at the Horseshoe Casino,  This breakfast is crucial for raising awareness, offering vital resources, and fostering community connections that support and promote self-love and respect.

Dr. Brenda Braam has a rich background in corrections. She oversaw three facilities as Lead Chaplain for the Virginia Department of Corrections and Grace Inside Prison Ministry from 2007 to 2016. From 1997 to 2004, she was the Lead Chaplain at the Southern Nevada Women’s Correctional Center in Las Vegas. Additionally, Dr. Braam worked as a Pastoral Care Chaplain at St. Mary’s Hospital in Richmond, Virginia.

Dr. Braam has lectured on “Domestic Violence in the Black Community and the Church’s Response” at Virginia Union University and Sweet Briar University. She is an alumna of the Jennifer Byler Institute and the Jarena Lee Women Preach Academy. She received the Nevada Prison Fellowship’s “Chaplain of the Year” award and the National Sojourner Truth award from the Negro and Professional Business Women’s Club. Dr. Braam has advocated for women and children in various countries, including South Africa, Mexico, Trinidad, Tobago, Canada, and Venezuela. She helped establish a Christian school in Tobago and a shelter for abused women and children in Kimberley, South Africa.
Committed to education Dr. Braam earned a Bachelor’s in Leadership & Management from Regent University, a Master of Divinity from the School of Theology at Virginia Union University, and a Master’s in Counseling from Liberty University. Dr. Braam graduated with a Doctoral Degree from United Theological Seminary in Dayton, Ohio in May 2019 and currently works as an Adjunct Faculty Mentor at the University.   

Dr. Braam is a Domestic Violence and Substance Abuse Counselor. She currently serves as a Board Member for the Nevada Coalition to End Domestic and Sexual Violence.
